Connecting you with the Vallejo Community
Leadership Vallejo educates and trains future leaders. Selected participants meet once every month for nine months. Each session is a day-long program packed with information, education, and training. Participants undertake personal study. They work with other participants in small teams that focus on a community project of design.
Each future leader learns the history of Vallejo and receives comprehensive background on issues facing the Vallejo community. Participants learn critical information about this diverse community. They gain understanding of the hopes, challenges, and aspirations of residents. Each participant enhances skills in public speaking, setting priorities, and achieving consensus at public meetings. Participants gain effective listening skills and demonstrate mastery in identifying key issues.
Individual learning projects focus on the community or volunteer organizations. Students demonstrate their leadership skills through activities that incorporate teamwork with decision making exercises. Students work collaboratively and gain experience working with diverse personalities.
The first class session is January 22 and 23, 2016. Classes then meet the 4th Friday of every month. Be prepared to dedicate one weekday each month for a day-long meeting of information and training.
